Agra is the most visited place in the World. It is located in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is mainly visited by the tourist and most of the tourist likes the culture and heritage of the city.

History — The city has a very wonderful past and in past it is the former capital of India in the time of Mughal Empire. Sultan Sikander Lodi, the Muslim ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, founded Agra in the year 1504. After the Sultan’s death, the city passed on to his son, Sultan Ibrahim Lodi. He ruled his Sultanate from Agra until he fell fighting to Mughal Badshah Babar, in the first battle of Panipat fought in 1526.

Places to visit in Agra

1.Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal, the most visited place in agra. It is build up of ivory-white marbles and it is situated on the south bank of the Yamuna. It was constructed by Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor(1628 to 1658) in 1632. It is the gift to his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being “the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage”.

2. Agra Fort

Agra fort is the finest Mughal fort in India. It is full of red colour and made of marbles. Agra fort is began by the Mughal emperor, Akbar in 1565. Some of great structures are Shish Mahal(Mirror palace), Diwan-e-aam (Place of general audience) and Diwan-e-khaas (Place of private audiences).

3. Itimad-ud-Daulah

Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah is considered as the great inspiration for the world wonder,Taj Mahal. It is build up of marble and with a fine carving and design. This is the first Mughal structure made with marbles by Nur Jahan, mAgra is the most visited place in the World. It is located in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is mainly visited by the tourist and most of the tourist likes the culture and heritage of the city.

4. Fatehpur Sikri

The name of Fatehpur Sikri is named from the village called sikri which located near to this place. In earlier, Akbar had visited in village called sikri to consult the Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chishti, who predicted the birth of an heir to the Mughal throne. When the predication came true, Akbar built his new capital here which consist of one mosque, one temple and one church for his favourite wives one a hindu, one a muslim and one a Christian.

Some of structures in Fatehpur sikri are Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal.
